Celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, at APISA potluck
All UCOP staff are invited to a potluck celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights:
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 26
Time: 12 to 1 p.m.
Location: Kaiser 1217
This potluck is organized by the OP Asian Pacific Island Association (APISA). Please bring a dish to share for six to eight people as well as your ideas for events you’d like to see at UCOP in the coming year.
Besides enjoying delicious food and the company of your co-workers, you’ll have the chance to learn more about the meaning of Diwali, a festival which celebrates the power of light to take away darkness, for good to triumph over evil, and for hope to conquer despair. It is an ancient Hindu festival that is celebrated every year in Nepal, India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and many other countries. During the celebration, millions of lights are displayed on housetops, temples and other buildings. It is also a time to clean and decorate your home and office, wear new clothes, and feast with family and friends.
