Join UCOP’s Native American, Indigenous and Pacific Islander Staff Association (NAIPISA) and its co-sponsors — the Cal Native and Indigenous Alumni Association and UCOP Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs — for a Native American Heritage Month celebration! Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino, the founders of Berkeley Indigenous restaurant Café Ohlone, will share their story and provide an overview of their culinary experience. In-person attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy a selection of traditional food from Ohlone culture.

November marks National Diabetes Awareness Month, a time when the world comes together to shed light on a chronic disease that affects millions. Join the Black Staff and Faculty Organization (BSFO) for our first Diabetes Awareness Month event featuring Rev. Teoma Loeb, DPT, of BodySoul Community Wellness and Physical Therapy. This powerful discussion will teach you how to help prevent diabetes health problems and become more informed about this disease. The event will also include a drawing for a Brief Physical Therapy screening with Dr. Loeb. (You must be present to participate in the raffle.)

Join the Latinx Staff Association (LaSA) for a Charla de la Tarde — afternoon chat — featuring Rodrigo Dominguez Villegas, Ph.D., director of research at the Latino Policy and Politics Institute and director of the Latino Data Hub at UCLA. Come learn how data disaggregation can advance representation and equity, and the need for better data collection standards to better reflect the diversity and complexity of Latinx communities. You’ll hear about the LPPI’s new Latino Data Hub, an innovative tool focused on improving data disaggregation about Latinos in the U.S.

The OP Staff Assembly invites all staff to attend virtual bingo with colleagues from all UCOP locations, as well as UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and UCSF. Bingo will be led by UC Riverside Staff Assembly’s Director of Finance Penni Ebina and another special guest from UC Riverside.
