Black Women in STEM: One Family’s Oral History

Dr. McKnight comes from a long line of pioneering and successful women in STEM. In this talk, she shares the stories she has uncovered of these remarkable women, and her personal journey of discovery. Dr. McKnight is passionate about increasing diversity in the STEM fields and supporting research that has a direct and positive impact on the community at large. She received her doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from UC Davis and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics from Spelman College and Poly-technic University. She served for 15 years on the UCSF faculty where she led a successful research program in neuroimaging of brain cancer. As Director of TRDRP, she advances the goal of making science more accessible to policymakers and community members.
