Women We Admire: Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo
Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, Ph.D., M.D., M.A.S. is the Lee Goldman, M.D. Endowed Chair in Medicine, Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Â She is the inaugural Vice Dean for Population Health and Health Equity in the UCSF School of Medicine.
Dr. Bibbins-Domingo, an expert in disease prevention, co-founded the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, a research center focused on discovery, implementation, policy, advocacy and community engagement for communities at risk for poor health and inadequate healthcare. Â Its work has transformed understanding of how social vulnerabilities relate to health.
She serves as a medical expert on various media outlets on topics that include: the challenges of poverty on accessing health care; changing recommendations related to mammograms and prostate screenings; and the impact of soda and salt consumption on health.
