Rob Bonta with kidsDon’t miss California State Assembly Member Rob Bonta, who will give a talk at UCOP this Thursday, March 6, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Franklin Lobby 1 Conference Room.

Bonta, who was elected to the Assembly in 2012, representing the District 18 cities of Oakland, Alameda and San Leandro, will speak about the contributions of Filipino Americans to the California labor movement.

Last year, Bonta introduced Assembly Bill 123, which requires the state curriculum for grades 7 to 12 to include instruction on the significant role of Filipino Americans in the farm labor movement in California. Gov. Brown approved the bill on Oct. 2, 2013.

The event is sponsored by UCOP’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) Diversity Committee, which was established to educate OGC attorneys and staff about our cultural diversity and thereby foster the qualities necessary to provide excellent legal service for a diverse community.
