Announcing changes to the UCOP human resources team
A message from Nancy Pluzdrak, executive director of UCOP local human resources:
Over the last several months the UCOP human resources (HR) team has been working to fill some critical openings in our department. I am happy to announce our new team members:
UCOP payroll team
The UCOP payroll team has transitioned from the Business Resource Center (BRC) to become part of the UCOP HR team. With leadership from Payroll Team Lead Ana Trejo, this change allows us to look at process improvements in the areas of time reporting, new hire on-boarding and off-boarding employees.
Compensation Manager Jonas “JJ” Lerma
Lerma’s focus will be on UCOP compensation activities, including the performance management and merit process, promotions and equity process, and the job classification process.
His arrival will allow Systemwide Director of Compensation Terry Weinstein and her team to focus on systemwide compensation. We appreciate all the support we have received from Weinstein and her team and we know that we will continue to have a strong partnership with them.
Talent and Organization Development Manager Lance Page
With a focus on all talent and organization development activities for UCOP, Page leads a team comprised of John Blake, learning and development specialist, and Charlette Lim Yankowitz, learning and development analyst.
Learning and Development Analyst Charlette Lim Yankowitz
Yankowitz joins the team after completing an assignment with the systemwide talent acquisition team. She will focus on learning management systems (LMS), scheduling and facilitating classes in partnership with Blake.
Talent Acquisition team
This team has added three new members:
- Erica Bridges, recruiter, TOPS
- Jennifer Wilson-Fischer, recruiter
- Vito Saccheri, talent acquisition coordinator
With these additions, we are able to align talent acquisition recruiters to client groups to ensure consistency in the recruitment process.
Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) team
Paulette Malak and Gregg Cannella were recently promoted to HRBPs, enabling us to realign client assignments and reduce the HRBP-to-employee ratio. This will facilitate more employee engagement and allow for an increased focus on developing a coaching culture at UCOP.
PeopleSoft Project Manager and Process Improvement Brandon Wong
Wong will work closely with the UCPath team to help manage testing and changes needed in preparation for the campus pilot implementation. Wong will also serve as project manager for the implementation of the TAMS (Talent Acquisition Module) and eAppraisal with the Deployment 1 campuses.
We are reviewing many of our internal processes, and Wong will lead our efforts in UCOP HR and across UCOP Operations for process improvement leveraging Lean Six Sigma.

You can locate your HRBP and talent acquisition recruiter on this listing.
I am excited to have these new members join our team and appreciate the assistance of the entire HR team during the recruitment process. Our organization is now fully staffed and we look forward to working closely with employees, supervisors and managers across all of UCOP.
