Boost your well-being at UC Walks on May 16

On Wednesday, May 16, UCOP employees in Oakland and UCPath employees in Riverside are invited to gather for the ninth annual UC Walks — a Systemwide WellBeing Initiative program that is coordinated by the wellness programs at each campus and health system. Events at both locations will feature lots of free wellness goodies, raffle prizes, fun group activities and of course an energizing walk with colleagues.

Oakland UC Walks

  • Time: 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; walk begins at noon (plan about 30 minutes for the walk from the lawn bowling courts to the pergola and back)
  • Location: Lakeside Park (just past Fairyland), Lake Merritt

To find UCOP’s meeting place, take Grand Ave. to Bellevue Ave., turn right into the park and follow the signs and balloons. Before the walk, sample healthy snacks, compete with your coworkers at the bean bag toss and big foot race, and stock up on giveaways and wellness information from UC’s medical and behavioral health plan vendors.

Pick up your T-shirt at the event; arrive early for the best selection of sizes.

Riverside UC Walks

  • Time: Wellness fair from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; walks begin at 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
  • Location: UC Intellicenter, Riverside

At the wellness fair, choose between yoga and hula-hooping (or try both), pick up giveaways and wellness information from UC medical plan vendors, and take the perfect #UCWalks selfie at the selfie station.
