Space still available in Jan. 6 personal safety training
The afternoon session is filling up, but space is still available in these special classes on personal safety and security training, Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, in Franklin Lobby One Conference Room.
The two-hour training will teach you how to look out for your personal safety and security whether at home, school, on the job or out and about. Two sessions are offered at the following times:
- Session One: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Session Two: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Leading the training will be personal safety expert Bruce Anderson, a former law enforcement officer who is now senior safety expert at the Safety Center Inc., a Sacramento-based organization whose mission is to reduce injuries and save lives by providing safety education and training.
Anderson specializes in a comprehensive and common sense approach to assessing and addressing security and personal safety. He provides real, practical solutions like self-defense techniques and takes pride in avoiding textbook answers to questions about safety issues. The sessions will be interactive and promise to be both entertaining and informative.
Seating is on a first come, first served basis, so act early to ensure yourself a spot. To register, log in to the UC Learning Center and select “Personal Safety and Security.” (Note that the procedure for registration has changed since the program was originally announced in Link.)
The training is sponsored by UCOP’s Office of Risk Services. If you have questions, please contact Erike Young at 510-987-0170 or erike.young@ucop.edu or Janine Crocker at 510-987-9882 or janine.crocker@ucop.edu.
