Channel your inner disco diva at June 23 BSFO dance party
Is “Stayin’ Alive” your idea of the best dance song ever? Are you dying to bust out those super-wide bellbottoms you haven’t worn since 1978? Has your life never been the same since Soul Train stopped broadcasting in 2006?
Here’s your chance to travel back in time to the music and fashions of the 1970s and 1980s at the Black Staff and Faculty Organization (BSFO) dance party on Saturday, June 23, from 7 p.m. to midnight in Franklin Lobby 1.
Tickets are available at $30 per person or $55 per couple. Raffle tickets are also available for $5 each (raffle prizes to be announced soon). All proceeds will benefit the BSFO Scholarship Fund.
The event will feature a DJ spinning oldies but goodies and comedian J. Reid, as well as a dance contest, Soul Train line, hors d’oeuvres, game room, scramble board and no host bar. Be sure to dress the part, as there will also be a costume contest.
This year the BSFO Scholarship Fund will provide five scholarships of $1,000 each to Oakland high school seniors who are planning to attend a UC campus in the fall. The group is working with Berkeley’s Center for Education Partnerships to identify the students.

Don’t miss this opportunity to have a blast and support a good cause at the same time. Please note that the Franklin parking garage will be open that evening for those with a UCOP employee badge.
