Last chance to submit entries for SharePoint naming contest
Be sure to submit your ideas for naming UCOP’s new SharePoint portal by this Friday, July 20, 2012. Even if you don’t use SharePoint yet, get your creative juices flowing to help come up with a name!
Concurrent with UCOP’s migration this fall to SharePoint’s latest version, SharePoint 2010, ITS is conducting a naming contest. All OP employees are eligible to submit one or more entries by the July 20 deadline.
The upgrade to SharePoint 2010 will provide a number of benefits, including a single URL for UCOP and the campuses as well as an improved interface and search capability.
Prizes will be awarded to the winner and two runners-up, who will be announced in early August.
Keep in mind that the new name will be used as the name of the portal and part of the URL (newname.ucop.edu) and will drive the logo branding. Contest entries will be reviewed and judged by the IT Operations Council, a multi-departmental working group within UCOP.
Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Creativity
- Relevance to UCOP
- How well the name captures the essence of SharePoint
- URL friendliness: how well the name works in the URL either as a full name or acronym (e.g., UCOP Portal, up.ucop.edu)
- How well the name converts to a logo for the SharePoint site
Be sure to submit your entry by 5 p.m., Friday, July 20.
