Spaces still available for UCOP’s summer AED CPR training

This summer’s American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver® training, offered to UCOP staff through the Office of Risk Services, still has openings at both the Kaiser and Franklin office locations.
The Aug. 16 class is full, but several sessions still have spaces available. Registration is open to anyone interested in becoming certified or in recertifying. Each group is limited to only 12 participants, so act soon to reserve your spot in one of these sessions:
- Monday, Aug. 20, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Franklin Lobby 1
- Monday, Sept. 17, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Franklin Lobby 1
- Thursday, Sept. 20, 1 to 5 p.m., 512 Kaiser
- Tuesday, Sept. 25, 1 to 5 p.m., 512 Kaiser
AHA Heartsaver CPR AED training is a four-hour, instructor-led class that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking in adults. Instruction is based on the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide student learning.
Such programs have been shown to dramatically improve the survivability of heart attack victims. The current course incorporates several key changes reflecting new science from the 2010 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, adult CPR and AED use, as well as optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR, including child and infant choking.
Every student will have hands-on skills practice with a mannequin. Upon completion, students receive an AHA Heartsaver CPR AED course completion card that is valid for two years.
Go to the UCOP Learning Center to sign up as follows:
- Log in using your UCOP login and password.
- Using the Search box on the left, type in the class title “UCOP AED CPR Training”; that will bring up Results of Search.
- Select the session you want, then click on the Register box and Submit.
