Happy holidays: UCOP closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, 2013

All UCOP offices will be closed from Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, except for essential services. Offices will reopen on Jan. 2, 2013. (Each UCOP vice president will determine staffing to cover any essential services that must be maintained.)

The closure period includes four holidays on Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1, and three working days on Dec. 26, 27 and 28. You have the option of using accrued vacation, compensatory time off or leave without pay for the three working days.

If you have not accrued sufficient vacation leave by December to cover those three days, arrangements can be made to allow you to borrow against future vacation time.

UC provides vacation leave — also known as paid time off for employees at some locations — as a benefit to staff for rest and renewal throughout the year. You can find out how much vacation you currently have accrued by checking your time and attendance record. If you are approaching or have already reached your maximum vacation accrual limit, you should work with your supervisor to schedule additional time off.
