Provost Aimée Dorr to speak next Tuesday, Dec. 11

Join Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Aimée Dorr on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 12 to 1 p.m. in Franklin Lobby 1 Conference Room, the next event in the Women We Admire series of talks.
As UC provost, Dorr serves as the system’s chief academic officer and leads efforts to ensure the academic excellence of all 10 UC campuses. She joined OP on July 2, after a national search to replace the retiring Lawrence Pitts.
A UCLA professor of education since 1981, Dorr became dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies in 1999, a position she held until leaving UCLA for UCOP. She has held other UC leadership positions, including chair and vice chair of the UC Academic Senate and faculty representative to the UC Board of Regents.
She has held faculty positions at Stanford, Harvard and the University of Southern California, where she served as associate dean of the Annenberg School of Communications. At Stanford, she also served one year as special adviser to the president for childcare policy. At UCLA, she also served as co-chair of the Academic Preparation and Educational Partnership Programs, formerly known as Outreach Programs.
Dorr received her B.S. in mathematics and her M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University.
The President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women initiated the Women We Admire speaker series in 2009 to bring women to UCOP from around the UC system to share insights about their careers, workplace challenges and work–life balance.
