Take Charge open house: Hear from 2013 graduates

Take Charge, a UCOP professional development program designed specifically for administrative and support staff, is celebrating its pilot year, and you are invited.

The celebration and open house takes place Monday, Sept. 23, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Franklin fifth floor rooftop garden. Graduates of the 2013 program and their managers will be on hand to talk about their experiences and answer questions for anyone interested in participating in 2014. Refreshments will be served.

Take Charge runs for six months, from January to June 2014. Program content includes workshops in managing up, self-promotion, negotiating, resume writing, networking and interviewing skills. Also included are self-guided assignments and peer mentoring sessions.

Cosponsored by UCOP Local HR Learning & Development and the Office of the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW), the program was launched last year for staff in administrative and support positions who want to better direct and manage their careers.

All eligible administrative and support staff are encouraged to apply. See the Take Charge website for criteria, answers to frequently asked questions and other details. The 2014 application deadline and program dates will be posted on the site soon.
