OP’s 2010 seasonal flu shot clinic

UCOP wants to help you have a healthy cold and flu season.

This year, UCOP will offer flu shots and adult vaccinations to help control the current whooping cough epidemic. All shots and vaccinations are accompanied by a complimentary lollipop.

Flu Shots

Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), which is part of UCOP Risk Services, is planning a seasonal flu shot clinic at Franklin in October. Exact dates will provided in Link once we get word on the availability of the vaccine, most likely in mid-September.

Staff from UC Berkeley’s University Health Services (UHS) at Tang Center will administer the vaccine on a first-come, first-served basis, at an expected cost of $25 per shot.

Adult TDaP Vaccine (for tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis)

An unprecedented increase in pertussis, or “whooping cough,” has replaced the H1N1 “swine” flu as a significant health concern in 2010. The California outbreak is expected be the worst in 50 years.

While healthy adults usually won’t experience much discomfort from pertussis, they can be carriers and spread the illness to infants.

USH will offer the adult TDaP vaccine (for tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis) at the flu clinic for $60. If you are interested in getting the adult TDaP vaccine, please send an e-mail to EHS@ucop.edu with the subject line “TDaP” by close of business Friday, August 27.

Receipts will be provided so you can get reimbursement for the cost of vaccinations from your medical insurer.
