OGC implemented best practices for protection of legal information

In keeping with the best practices of law firms, new access controls for the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) department on the 8th floor of Franklin were implemented on Monday, September 20.

The new access controls entail the installation of security card readers inside the stairwell on the 8th floor that will allow only OGC employees to gain access to the 8th floor from inside the stairwell. The stairs will remain open from the floor side in case of emergencies, however.

After-hours, weekend and holiday access restricted to OGC staff only

In addition, as part of the new controls, the Franklin elevators have been programmed to bypass the 8th floor in order to prevent non-OGC employees from entering the floor unaccompanied – after business hours and on weekends and holidays only. The elevator bypass will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 7:59 a.m., Monday through Friday. The bypass will be in effect all day on Saturdays, Sundays and all holidays.

If you need to access the 8th floor after hours and on weekends and holidays, please contact an OGC staff member.
