24 January 2011 Did You Know?
Monthly paid employees will notice a change in their February 1 paychecks due to reduced Social Security withholding for 2011 from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent. Because the change was not implemented in time to affect the January 3, 2011 paycheck, monthly employees paid on that date were subject to Social Security withholding tax at the old rate. Employees will be refunded the difference in the Feb. 1 paycheck.

Know a teen who loves math and science? Come learn about the COSMOS program at a Feb. 3 brown-bag information session in Franklin, Room 10325. The program gives students in grades 8-12 a chance to spend four weeks at UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, or UC San Diego this summer learning about astronomy, biomedical sciences, engineering, robotics and more.

In a celebration of all she has accomplished, UC's director of undergraduate admissions was honored by colleagues at a Jan. 11 reception. Wilbur will retire at the end of January after 31 years of university service.
