May 23 brown bag: What’s up in downtown Oakland?

Find out how you can become more engaged in your workplace neighborhood when the Downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt-Uptown Associations present an information session on their programs and services Wednesday, May 23, 12 to 1 p.m. in 712 Kaiser, an event sponsored by the OP Staff Assembly.

Steve Snider, Andrew Jones and Ted Tarver will provide details on several programs, including development plans and beautification projects for downtown Oakland and the First Friday Art Murmur.

They will also discuss the Security Ambassador program, detailing the services the program offers and providing tips on employee safety in the area.

Snider and team made a similar appearance at Franklin in February, and that event helped galvanize support for OP’s Oakland Project, an effort to mobilize UCOP staffers to become Oakland boosters by working with the associations and forging partnerships with local vendors. Already in the works is a partnership with Oaklandish, the Oakland-based clothing shop at 1444 Broadway, as announced by EVP Nathan Brostrom last December.
