Your comments invited on ERIT time reduction program
UC is proposing to renew the Employee-Initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) Program as an optional tool that locations and organizational units may choose to offer employees in addressing the current budget crisis.
The proposed renewal of the ERIT program allows career staff employees, except senior managers, to voluntarily reduce their percentage of appointment and pay in order for the university to achieve salary savings.
In exchange, employees receive certain specified advantages, such as accrual of vacation and sick leave based on the rate at which they accrued these leaves prior to participating in the program.
Also, employees whose time was reduced prior to ERIT either voluntarily or involuntarily may participate in the ERIT program. Employees who receive notice of an involuntary reduction in time also could opt to participate in ERIT.
The revised program document is posted online for review. If you wish to provide comments on the proposed program, please submit them to Michael Lum at michael.lum@ucop.edu by 5 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012.
