American Red Cross blood drive scheduled at UCOP today

Giving blood is easy when the bloodmobile comes to UCOP today, Tuesday, July 17.

The schedule is nearly full, but there are often cancellations the day of the drive, so don’t hesitate to contact Jan Kehoe at (510) 987-9692 or jan.kehoe@ucop.edu if you are ready and willing to donate.

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked in front of the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) building on 11th St., between Franklin and Webster, from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drives at UCOP are also planned for September and December this year.

The American Red Cross blood supply for Northern California has reached critical lows, with 50,000 fewer donations than expected in June and half the readily available blood on hand compared with this time last year so now is a great time to give. All blood types are needed, but especially O positive, O negative, B negative and A negative, in order to meet patient demand this summer.

As far as I know, Jan has been organizing the UCOP blood drives since 2003 (or longer!)Thank you, Jan, for your heart, time, COOKIES, and love of helping others. Our blood drives are the BEST because of you! Generous donors like Jan help save lives, but we need more donors. If you haven’t had the pleasure of giving the gift of life (aka donating blood), please consider signing up for the September drive. You will be so happy you did!

Jan makes it so easy to donate blood. Her organization & enthusiasm make donation a positive experience every time. The Blood Mobile staff are upbeat & professional. I’ve given blood many times over the years & this group sets the highest bar. I have had only positive experiences!
