Reception brings the Yudof era to a close

Standing on the same patio where he first greeted UCOP staff five years ago, outgoing UC President Mark Yudof, joined by his wife Judy, gathered for the last time with UCOP colleagues at an appreciation reception on Monday to exchange mutual thank yous for their support and for a job well done.

“I’m grateful to you for all your hard work,” Yudof told what he described as the “incredible” OP staff. “We work hard, and what we do here is good for students, good for science and good for the state.”

The reception on the Franklin fifth floor outdoor patio included some gentle roasts; a few personal tidbits about Yudof, such as his penchant for pancakes and murder mysteries; a proclamation; and a song by the Uke-Cs, UCOP’s staff ukelele group.

Yudof, the 19th UC president, will return to teaching at Berkeley Law following a year’s sabbatical.
