Give a gift to a child in need by tomorrow, Dec. 11

You can make a difference for a needy child this holiday season by participating in UCOP’s Family Giving Tree drive.

The Family Giving Tree Holiday Program works with local social service agencies that register children in need. Their requests are sent to Family Giving Tree “elves,” who then print these individual wishes on cards and distribute them to more than 1,000 host companies throughout the Bay Area.

You can help in two ways:

  1. Check the holiday tree in the Franklin Lobby (donated by Christmas Home) and choose a card to fulfill a child’s wish. Purchase the gift and return it to drive leader Alina Tejera (see more details below) for distribution to the recipient agency.
  2. Go online and sponsor a child’s wish at www.FamilyGivingTree.org. Pre-addressed envelopes are also available upon request for those who prefer to send a check.

Gifts should be unwrapped with wish cards attached. They are due to Alina Tejera (5307I Franklin) by Wednesday, Dec. 11, but will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 20. (Late gifts are not guaranteed to go to the child listed on the card but will be given to children on the waiting list.)

UCOP’s drive is being hosted by the Latino Staff Association (LaSA).
