10-second bio: Meet Steven Murray, from Berkeley to BASC
Name: Steven Murray
Title: Director
Department/Unit: Building and Administrative Services
Location: 7th floor, Franklin
When I started working at UCOP: I started at UCOP in 2013, but I first joined UC in 1986 as a graduate student instructor (GSI) in architecture at UC Berkeley. I have also worked as a lecturer and assistant dean at Berkeley and as director of operations in Design and Construction at UC Merced over the last 18 years.
What I do in five words or less: Make sure the physical environment works for you.
Best part about working for OP: Working with all the smart dedicated people at the Office of the President.
Something you don’t know about me: In addition to my academic and architecture background, I am also an aviation planner. I’ve worked on airports in Mumbai, Chile, Angola, Namibia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, where I traveled to Sarajevo and Tuzla in the months between the signing of the Dayton accords and the Kosovo war.
One weird fact about the place I grew up in: I spent a big part of my childhood in Strathmere, N.J. It’s a small town (2010 population was 158) on a barrier island in Cape May County that has not changed in more than 50 years.
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now) I would be: A gentleman farmer or kindly eccentric
Nice Bio Boss!
Another East Coaster and from New Jersey yet! 🙂
\Make sure the physical environment works for you.\ is actually 8 words but they so aptly describe what we do so we’re going to let it slide!
