Final eAppraisal demos offered this week

Employee self-appraisals are the first of several steps in this year’s performance appraisal process to be completed using eAppraisal, UCOP’s new tool for handling performance evaluations electronically. The self-appraisal sets in motion the process to get all employee performance appraisals into the system by Tuesday, Sept. 30. Reviews should cover performance during the fiscal year, from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014.

If you haven’t attended one of several demonstrations on the new system or tried it yet, go ahead and log in. It’s quite straightforward; you just fill in the online form, which you’ll recognize if you’ve done a printed evaluation at UCOP in the past. Be sure to include your future goals at the end of the form, including both job-related goals and professional development goals.

The online system will send reminders for the deadlines listed below. Some departments may establish different timelines for their employees, but here is the recommended timeframe for the required steps to complete each employee’s review:

  • Employee completes self-appraisal in the online system: last Friday, July 18
  • Manager completes employee appraisal in the system: Friday, Aug. 8
  • Second-level manager approves appraisals: Friday, Aug. 22
  • Manager meets with direct reports and adds comments: Monday, Sept. 8
  • Employee adds final comments and signs off: Monday, Sept. 15
  • Manager signs offs on appraisals: Monday, Sept. 22
  • Second-level manager signs off on appraisals: Monday, Sept. 29
