Earth Day: Call for volunteers
It’s almost April, and April is time for Earth Day. Plans are well under way for meaningful, fun ways for you to get involved. OP Staff Assembly is organizing several events, and they’re looking for volunteers.
Join your colleagues (and bring friends and family) at a cleanup day at Oakland’s Channel Park on Saturday, April 18, 9 a.m. to noon. Channel Park, a wildlife refuge, lies between Lake Merritt and the Oakland estuary. Volunteers will pick up litter and remove invasive plants.
The park is a short walk from the Lake Merritt BART station, and volunteers will meet at 24 7th Street. Contact Ryan Chan (Ryan.Chan@ucop.edu) with any questions or simply sign up on Google Docs.
Other upcoming Earth Day events:
Wednesday, April 22: Erin Riordan, a post-doc at UC Berkeley, will discuss what climate change looks like for the future of California.
Friday, May 1: A Sustainability Fair, held in conjunction with First Friday Breakfast at Franklin, will include presentations by students from UC Berkeley’s Student Resource Center.
Mark your calendars. Link will provide more details as the dates draw near.
