Electric vehicles get a charge

If you drive an electric car, you’ll be pleased to know the Franklin building now has 12 parking spots, all on the third floor, where you can charge up.

Four dedicated spots are for 110V charging, and two are for 208V. Six non-dedicated, overflow parking spaces are marked “Electrical Vehicle Ready” and are equipped with 110V plugs.

Users must register to use the spots and pay the $128 monthly parking fee through the Building Administration Service Center. In addition, there’s a $10 a month fee for the 110V spaces.

UCOP is offering an introductory fee of $1 per hour for the 208V parking spots; after Dec. 1, the cost will go up to $1.94 an hour. You must have a ChargePoint card to access these spaces. Email commuterserviceshelp@ucop.edu  to sign up for ChargePoint.
