Lansing for insert

Bring your lunch and join Sherry Lansing, Regent of the University of California, for the next talk in the Women We Admire series.

Date: Tuesday, Jan. 19
Time: 12-1 p.m.
Location: Franklin Lobby 1

In addition to serving on the University of California Board of Regents, Lansing is an advocate of several committees and non‐profit organizations, including the Sherry Lansing Foundation (SLF), an organization dedicated to cancer research, health, public education and encore career opportunities. Among the SLF’s initiatives is EnCorps Teachers Program, founded by Lansing to retrain retired and mid-career professionals from the technology sector to serve as California public school math and science teachers.

Throughout Lansing’s film career, she earned a reputation as a trailblazer, a visionary leader and a creative filmmaker. Lansing was involved in the production, marketing and distribution of more than 200 films, including Academy Award winners Forrest Gump, Braveheart and Titanic. Lansing became the first woman to head a major film studio as President of 20th Century Fox. Later, Lansing worked as an independent producer and then returned to the executive ranks as chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures.

Lansing’s talk is part of the Women We Admire series, initiated by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) in 2009. PACSW brings women to UCOP from around the system to share insights about their careers, workplace challenges and work-life balance. All members of the UCOP community are invited to learn how to make the most of working at UC.
