Workshop: UCOP as a Gender-Inclusive Workplace

The experiences and voices of transgender and gender nonconforming people have gained visibility in recent years. But there is much to be done, including creating inclusive workplaces for all trans and gender nonconforming people. How can we ensure inclusivity thrives at UCOP?

To provide information and inspire conversation on this topic, all UCOP staff are invited to attend a workshop led by Billy Curtis, director of the Gender Equity Resource Center at UC Berkeley:

Date: Tuesday, Nov. 8
Time: 12 – 1:30 p.m.
Location: Franklin Lobby 1

Light refreshments will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your lunch.

Space is limited, so please RSVP by Nov. 7 to Lena.Zentall@ucop.edu to reserve a seat.

Some reasons you may wish to attend:

  • Do you know how to respond if a staff member you supervise initiates a gender confirmation plan to undergo transition in the workplace?
  • Are you aware that many UC community members use pronouns such as “they” and “ze” – and why they do so?
  • Do you know what’s required in the workplace to comply with gender identity protections in state law and UC’s non-discrimination policy?

The workshop will cover foundational concepts and critical information about gender identity and trans-related issues, which will allow you to integrate gender-inclusive practices into your work and department.

This event is being sponsored by President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW), UCOP Pride, UC Office of Diversity and Engagement, and the UCOP Program Manager of Culture, Engagement and Diversity.
