Thursday: Donate blood and help save lives

More than 200 blood drives have been cancelled because of Hurricane Florence, and the American Red Cross needs your help to make up for those much-needed donations.

You can help those in need of lifesaving transfusions by scheduling an appointment to donate blood at the American Red Cross drive. It only takes about an hour to give blood and your donation can save three lives.

  • Date: Thursday, October 4
  • Time: 8:15 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Location: The Bloodmobile will be parked in front of the East Bay Municipal Utility District building on 11th St. between Franklin and Webster streets

To make an appointment to donate or if you have questions, contact Jan Kehoe at 7-9526 or

Visit the American Red Cross website to learn more about the process. To make donating even easier, start the process online the day of your donation.
