Thanksgiving Coat Drive & volunteer event
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, here are two more great ways to help out our Oakland community:
Warm coat drive
All Oakland staff members are invited to donate a warm coat or sweater to be handed out at the meal event described below. You can drop your donation into the collection bin set up across from the security desk in the Franklin lobby from Tuesday, Nov. 13, until Monday, Nov. 19, at 12 p.m.
Please donate only new or used coats/sweaters that are clean and in good condition. All sizes welcomed.
Volunteer to serve a meal
Help serve lunch at the city of Oakland’s 27th annual Thanksgiving meal at the Oakland Marriott on Tuesday, Nov. 20. The event is open to the homeless, seniors and anyone who just needs a hearty meal and a warm coat.
There are three possible shifts but a limited number of slots for volunteer servers, so only UCOP staff (not family or friends) will be able to participate.
If you’d like to volunteer, please pre-register by 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, by using the form found here: https://www.ucop.edu/oppc/events/thanksgiving-event-18.html
These events are sponsored by the Office of the President Professional Community (OPPC).
