Thursday: Come to the UCOP End-of-Year Celebration in Oakland!
Please join your Oakland-based UCOP colleagues this week at our annual End-of-Year Celebration! We’ll celebrate our hard work and accomplishments this year — and look ahead to 2019.
- Date: Thursday, Dec. 13
- Time: 2:30 to 4 p.m. — Remarks from President Napolitano at 3:15 in Lobby 1
- Location: Franklin building
This celebration is entirely funded by personal contributions from UCOP leadership and management staff. Thanks to their generosity, we’ll be offering:
- Back by popular demand! Full taco bars with all the trimmings in the Lobby and on the 5th floor
- Treats to tempt your sweet tooth in the President’s Conference Room on the 12th floor
- Holiday Cheer on the 5th and 12th floors
Finally, we have a special event this year: The first-ever UCOP Chef Throwdown! The contestants who’ve signed up to bring in their masterpieces for the Throwdown represent many OP divisions, including Academic Affairs, CFO Division, Office of the General Counsel, External Relations & Communications, UC National Laboratories, COO Division and Academic Senate.
Our distinguished judges will sample each entry before the party, and winners in each of the Throwdown categories will be announced by President Napolitano during her remarks. At that time, all staff are invited to see — and taste — the entries (while supplies last).
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
Where do I go to see the UCOP Chefs participate in the “Throw Down!”
Where and when will the winners be announced?
I’m looking forward to cheering on my coworkers.
Tracy – Thank you for your questions!
“Where do I go to see the UCOP Chefs participate in the Throw Down?”
We are keeping the room open only for judges, competitors and event-related volunteers. Since judges will not be discussing their impressions or announcing winners at that time (and we will be simultaneously setting up the other half of the room for the event later that day), we kindly ask that all supporters and those interested in the contest are ready for the announcement of the winners at 3:15.
“Where and when will the winners be announced?”
The President will be announcing the winners in Lobby 1 at 3:15pm. (We plan to have her message viewable in the other conference rooms (5-320, President’s Conference Room, 12-322 and possibly one other) using Zoom.)
“I’m looking forward to cheering on my coworkers.”
Fantastic! So are we. Did you know that we have so many divisions with a Throwdown contestant? Academic Affairs, CFO Division, Office of General Counsel, External Relations & Communications, UC National Laboratories, COO Division and Academic Senate will all send 1 or more to the Throwdown.
