Women’s personal safety workshop

On Thursday, April 11, join the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA) for an exciting lunchtime activity: A women’s personal safety workshop and demonstration led by Joseph Bautista. Bautista is the owner of Eskabo Daan, a Filipino martial arts school in San Francisco.

Joseph Bautista is the same martial artist who gave a martial arts demonstration at last year’s APISA Filipino Heritage festival. In his course, Self Defense for the People, he takes a modern urban approach to self-defense, which includes helping women feel safe when using public transportation and advice for being more self-aware. His methods will include the use techniques of de-escalation and verbal self-defense in various situations for protection.

Although the workshop is geared towards women, all interested staff are invited to attend.
