This Friday, May 21, the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) will welcome Shonté Thomas, M. Ed., for the next event in the popular Women We Admire series.
Shonté is the associate dean of students for UC Riverside’s Ethnic & Gender Centers (E&Gs) and a leader in the Student Affairs Division. She oversees the E&Gs, which promote personal, social, cultural and intellectual development for students. She is committed to helping students and staff cultivate community, find mentorship opportunities and build leadership skills.
Shonté began working at UC Riverside in July 2020. Prior to that, she was the director of UC Santa Cruz’s African American Resource & Cultural Center for seven years. As a scholar-practitioner, Shonté bridges theory to practice and utilizes the diverse skills she has gained over two decades as an educator. She is deeply passionate about liberatory practices and work that centers on equity and inclusion. She strives to create a much-improved ecosystem for all, particularly students with minoritized identities.
