June 19 is Juneteenth — the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. The UCOP Black Staff and Faculty Organization (BSFO) invites all employees to recognize this important day by joining together for several planned events. Note that all events are listed in Pacific Time.
Bi-weekly Healing Meditation Series

To kick off its week of Juneteenth events, BSFO will be hosting a conversation and discussion about the Juneteenth holiday and reparations. This event will be hosted by UCOP’s own Andrew Houston, who will be speaking with Terrance Evans, a partner at Duane Morris LLP in San Francisco. There will also be an opportunity for audience Q&A. Join us for this important and educational event!

As a part of its week of Juneteenth recognition, BSFO will be hosting a celebratory Juneteenth Talent Showcase! Come join us to enjoy a series of special guests sharing their talents and honoring the Juneteenth holiday. There will be poetry readings, singing, art and more! As an added bonus, the talent showcase will be hosted by UCOP’s own Geoff Gibbs.
