PACSW’s Women We Admire welcomes Regent Emerita Laphonza Butler
On Tuesday, March 15, the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) will hold a special Women’s History Month presentation of its Women We Admire speaker series.
Open to all UCOP staff, this virtual event will feature Regent Emerita Laphonza Butler. Laphonza is president of EMILY’s List, the largest national resource for women in politics.
As a leader in Democratic politics, campaign strategy and the labor movement for two decades, Laphonza has dedicated her life to empowering women, supporting them in finding their voices and making meaningful change. As president of SEIU Local 2015 for 10 years and SEIU United Long Term Care Workers for seven years, Butler was the leading voice, strategist and architect of efforts to address pay inequity for women in California, as well as a top advocate for raising the state’s minimum wage to $15/hr.
Please join us to learn from Laphonza about her life and career path — including her experience as a voice for women in Democratic politics and her role in labor-union rights — and how she approaches work-life balance through it all.
