Write Right!
April 7 & April 8, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Register by March 31)
Highly rated trainer Barbara Nelson of Nelson Communications will facilitate this two-day learning experience focused on baseline business-writing skills. Learn the basics of business writing, from constructing clear sentences to making sure work is grammatically correct, punctuated appropriately and consistently capitalized. Feel confident that your communications are clear and correct.

OPSA Panel: Career Longevity at UCOP
April 19, 1 – 2 p.m.
In this special event organized by the OP Staff Assembly, long-tenured UCOP staff will share how they have navigated their careers while balancing work and family, and how they’ve used these experiences to help their colleagues navigate and succeed in their own careers at UC.

Learn and try tools and techniques to make virtual and hybrid meetings more engaging and collaborative. Come with an open mind and ready to learn new internet-based tools that make it easier to include all voices and encourage greater openness, teamwork and decision ownership.

21 Practices for Happiness at Work
April 27, 2 – 4:30 p.m. (Register by April 23)
Develop and practice mindfulness, emotional intelligence, growth mindset and productivity skills that are crucial in today’s workplace. This workshop focuses on behavioral changes and initiative-taking, while at the same time paying attention to self-care, stress reduction, fostering enjoyment and self-fulfillment.

Accomplishing More with Less
April 28, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Register by April 25)
Past participants have described this course as “transformational!” In this fun and engaging workshop, you’ll learn how to make breakthroughs in time management, respond instead of reacting to work demands and establish sustainable practices to manage information and task overload.

Trust and Psychological Safety in the Workplace
April 28, 2 – 4 p.m.
Led by UCOP Systemwide Director of Leadership and Organization Development Lisa Terry, this interactive workshop will teach participants to understand the concepts of trust and psychological safety, how to measure trust and psychological safety in the workplace, and action steps to create greater trust and safety within organizations and teams.

PivotTables Techniques
April 12, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Register by April 7)
Learn tips and tricks with Excel PivotTables and how they can be an invaluable tool in helping to analyze data and present conclusions in compelling ways. If you’ve been using PivotTables and are wondering what more you can do with them, or are running into obstacles, this workshop will help you unleash the power of PivotTables and get outstanding results.

Box Introduction
April 13, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Box is the cloud-based service that provides secure file storage and file sharing at UCOP. In this introductory course, you’ll learn how to use Box, collaborate with people in and outside UCOP, comment directly on files, folder permissions, shared links and more. IT administrators will also answer your questions.

Zoom Advanced
April 14, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Level-up your Zoom experience with advanced-level skills like personal meeting IDs, advanced web portal settings, scheduling options, sharing options and annotations, polling, breakout rooms, reporting and cloud recording. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

Microsoft Access for Beginners
April 22, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Microsoft Access provides versatile tools for entering, visualizing, analyzing and understanding data. This workshop is for business users who have been using Excel to manage lists of data, but want to take advantage of the powerful tools Microsoft Access offers.

People Leaders Forum: Self-Care for Leaders
April 8, 1 – 2 p.m.
People Leaders Forums, offered every second Friday from 1 – 2 p.m., are monthly opportunities for supervisors to connect with one another. Develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support yourself and your team!

  • April 8: Self-Care for Leaders: Showing Up As Our Best Self. Featuring Annie Prozan with special guest Nicole Browning Williams, senior program associate, quality schools and districts, WestEd.
