The UC Center Sacramento focuses on extreme heat
California housing is unprepared for extreme heat today, let alone future increases in duration and intensity expected with climate change.
On Oct. 19 from 12 – 1 p.m., Dr. V. Kelly Turner, assistant professor, UCLA, and co-director, Luskin Center for Innovation, will lead a conversation at the UC Center Sacramento on extreme heat in the Golden State.
All UCOP staff are invited to attend these sessions to learn about recommendations for protecting Californians where they live, including:
- Update residential building codes and habitability standards
- Bolster funding for new home cooling strategies
- Address policy gaps to protect heat-vulnerable populations
