MSAP applications due Wednesday, March 23
The UC Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP) is a weeklong residential program designed to assess current management skills in the context of the complexities facing UC managers.
The program takes place May 2 through 6 at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, Calif. Fifty-four participants from Northern California will have the opportunity to give and receive feedback, discuss strengths and areas for growth and enhance their management skills. Program exercises will include simulated UC management scenarios.
The program is best suited for high-potential individuals who learn through a variety of experiences, including case studies, discussion and reflection, small group activities and extensive feedback. Assessees are AA III supervisors through MSP I, and assessors are senior managers with coaching, development and group facilitation experience.
MSAP provides the opportunity to:
- Build awareness of management competencies and skills
- Practice giving and receiving objective behavioral feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues systemwide
- Develop an individual career development plan
Applicants must have one or more years of service at UC (beyond probation, career status) as of the application deadline of March 23, 2011. Supervisor support is essential to the success of MSAP. For assessees, highest priority will be given to individuals with 1 to 5 years in their current job and 1 to 5 years of experience supervising or managing people or projects.
