Build your skills: Upcoming classes still have openings
UCOP HR Learning and Development is offering three classes, including Write Right, Introduction to Time Management and Microsoft Word, all sessions taking place in the Franklin building next week.
Write Right: Baseline Business Writing Skills, Tuesday, March 5, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 5320 Franklin
This full-day foundational course provides the basics of grammar and clear writing. Participants learn key characteristics of good writing and practice those skills in the workshop. Topics include the sentence, verbs, grammar and capitalization and more.
Introduction to Time Management, Thursday, March 7, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 10325 Franklin
In today’s work climate, time management is a critical skill. This full-day course begins by examining your current time management skills and provides practice exercises during the course to help you set up a personal organization system to develop new ways of managing time more effectively. Topics include time management basics, work-life balance, email management tips, personal planner options, dealing with the unexpected, and setting goals and targets.
Introduction to Microsoft Word, Thursday, March 7, 9 to 4 p.m., 7107 Franklin
Learn the basics and where to find all the tools and features of Microsoft Word 2007. Create, edit, format and print documents by mastering the program’s ribbon groups and tabs, galleries and themes. Topics include creating documents from scratch using Word templates, creating tables, understanding page layout and adding graphics and clip art.
To register for any of these classes, go to the UC Learning Center:
- Log in using your UCOP login and password.
- Using the Search box on the left, type in the name of the class you want; that will bring up Results of Search.
- Click the session you want, then click on the Register box and Submit.
