10-second bio: Meet Cyndi Lukk, equine therapist in training

When I started working at UCOP: I started Nov. 2, 1998, and previously worked for Agriculture & Natural Resources.
What I do for UCOP in five words or less: Help people with computer problems
The best part about working for OP: Working with the people who work here and working for a university that does so much not only for California but all around the world. If you go to a meeting with students, teachers, researchers and those who benefit, you will see how wonderful working for such an organization can be. I also like that diversity is welcome here.
Something you don’t know about me: When I grow up and retire I’m going to be a licensed psychotherapist, hopefully working with children and adults who have suffered trauma in their past or present. My co-therapist will have hooves and a mane, and we will be doing most of our therapy in a pasture. Yes, I’m training to be an equine therapist, using horses to help people communicate better and see their own beauty and strengths from a more nature-based therapy room with very big and gentle animals.
One weird fact about the town I grew up in: I was raised in Lompoc, Calif. It was the flower seed capital of the nation, and the locals loved to party. That first fact we learned in school, and the second we learned from The Bank Dick, which W.C. Fields shot in 1940. He returned often afterwards to imbibe with the Lompoc locals.
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would be: Hmmm, I have worked three glorious jobs, and the only thing I didn’t do in my life that I wanted to do is be a rock star or a country singer. So I will have to just dream about singing songs from a Broadway show like Les Misérables in a choir.
