Music under the redwoods at Berkeley’s Redwood Grove concerts

Redwoods are pretty magical on their own, but how about a concert early on a summer evening in an amphitheater setting under the redwoods?
That’s the experience you can have at the Redwood Grove Summer Concert Series in the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley, Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 28. Ticket sales benefit the UC Botanical Garden, a living museum of plants, home to more than 2,000 rare and endangered species.
The concert series, now in its fourth year, features area artists and others playing a range of styles, from blues and jazz to folk and classical. Concerts sold out last year and there are only 200 seats available for each show, so be sure to buy your tickets early.
This year’s series includes a children’s concert, an evening of poetry and a pre-Bastille Day Benefit on July 10 featuring the Baguette Quartette and Le Jazz Hot (Hot Club of SF). The website provides links to videos and music samples of the artists.
Check out the full lineup and purchase tickets online. Prices range from $15 to $45 for adults, depending on the event, with discounts for Botanical Garden members and children 17 years and under. Your ticket includes admission to the garden before 4:30 p.m., and “doors” open at 5 p.m.
