Franklin photo exhibit, ferry ride wrap up Pride Month

Edgar DelosAngeles with exhibit

The UCOP Pride photo exhibit was a collaborative effort by Edgar DelosAngeles (pictured), Robert Penman and Carolina Reyes, all of Student Affairs.

As June winds down, UCOP Pride is this week holding its final two events to celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month: its ongoing Franklin exhibit and this Friday’s ferry ride to San Francisco.

The exhibit spotlights personal stories of pride, with photos and profiles of 18 members of the UCOP community. Designed to “demystify the gay spectrum and associated prejudices and misrepresentations,” the installation was a collaborative effort by Edgar DelosAngeles (concept and production), Robert Penman (photography and editing) and Carolina Reyes (design), all of Student Affairs.

The exhibit will remain on display in the Franklin building lobby through the end of the month of June, so check it out by next Monday if you haven’t yet had a chance to do so.

And don’t forget the big event this Friday, June 27: A ferry ride to San Francisco for happy hour drinks and mingling on the eve of San Francisco’s Pride Celebration. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Oakland Ferry Terminal to board the 5:50 p.m. ferry. See the San Francisco Bay Ferry website for more details about location, fares and parking. (Add event to my calendar.)

If you’re interested in coordinating the trip from UCOP to the Jack London Square ferry dock, contact Edgar DelosAngeles at Edgar.DelosAngeles@ucop.edu or Karin Rice at Karin.Rice@ucop.edu.

UCOP Pride is dedicated to providing advocacy, education and community building for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex community within UCOP and beyond. Contact Rice to find out more about the group or join its listserv.
