10-second bio: Peter Church on working at OP, sitting on a panel with Al Gore
Name: Peter Church
Title: Business Analysis and Operations Manager
Department: Office of the General Counsel
Location: 8th Floor
When I started working at UCOP: May, 2010
What I do in five words or less: Numbers for lawyers
Best part about working for OP: The sense of mission
Something you don’t know about me: I once sat on a panel with Al Gore. Gore, who was my senator at the time, hosted an environmental conference at my high school in downtown Nashville. As the Head Green Guy (official title!) at my school, I was invited to be the student speaker on a panel about changing attitudes toward environmentalism. I had recently written a paper called “Can we afford not to have the next ice age?” about looking at temperature on a geological scale rather than “am I hot or cold today.” Amazing that we still have to have this conversation 25 years later! As it turns out, I didn’t give the introduction for Al Gore, he gave the introduction for me!
One weird fact about the town I grew up in: (Nashville, TN) Not all country music is terrible. I didn’t know this until I was 18 and accidentally heard a Lyle Lovett/Steve Earle/Townes Van Zandt/Guy Clark concert.
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would be: Nate Silver’s intern for fivethirtyeight.com
Great to see another OGC co-worker get his 10 Second Bio ON!
I am so glad to see this profile of my colleague. You can tell by this brief but meaningful interview that Peter is a pleasure to work with at OGC. Thanks!
