10-second bio: Monica Johnson, from the Peace Corps to UCPath
Name: Monica Johnson
Title: Workforce Administration Operations Associate
Department: UCPath Center
Location: Riverside
When I started working at UCOP: October 2013
What I do in five words or less: Assisting in launch of UCPath
Best part about working for OP: Coming from the Berkeley campus, the best part about working for OP is having a direct connection with all the UC locations and working with individuals from each campus. Collaborating to create a more standard and efficient product is exciting, and I enjoy coming to work each day.
Something you don’t know about me: I served in the United States Peace Corps as a community health educator in Morocco for a little over two years, from 2010 to 2012.
One weird fact about the town I grew up in: Watts, in South Central L.A., was not the best area to grow up in. I was exposed to a lot, but I overcame it all and have traveled and experienced so much in the world. Another weird fact is I got the chance to see Denzel Washington every day for over a month while they were filming “Training Day”!
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would be: A global health educator, traveling the world providing lifestyle-changing lessons to rural communities in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia!
