10-second bio: Veronica Cummings of the Business Resource Center
Title: Senior Event Planner
Department: Business Resource Center
Location: Franklin
When I started working at OP: November 2010
What I do in five words or less: Plan events for UCOP
Best part of working at OP: I spent the first five unforgettable years of my UCOP career at the UC Washington Center. I collaborated with colleagues in both DC and Oakland to plan the high-profile events, which included an alumni reception with President Napolitano, in addition to managing an academic internship program that is better known as UCDC. Now that I am at the Franklin building, I am able to see the sheer magnitude of the work that is performed at OP for the benefit of our state, country and world.
As a senior event planner, I get to interact with so many OP staff! So I would say that the best part about working for OP is that I get to work with so many people who are working hard to advance UC’s mission. Every single person who works for the UC, no matter what his or her role is, is contributing to the overall success of the UC. As a member of the Event Services Group, I work with an amazing team and clients to plan UCOP events that have purpose, bring people together, and invoke a genuine sense of shared responsibility and community.
Something you don’t know about me: I am fluent in Italian.
One weird fact about the town I grew up in: I don’t know any weird facts about my hometown, but one cute fact about the town I grew up in, Monterey, is that geese cross the street by foot, and it’s not uncommon to see a long line of cars stopped to allow geese to waddle across the street!
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would be: Anthony Bourdain’s replacement. He gets paid to travel the world and eat delicious food!
