Learn CPR and AED skills with onsite classes in May
Do you know how to help a co-worker, friend or family member during a respiratory or cardiac emergency?
To make it easy to learn how to respond to these emergencies, UCOP is sponsoring several onsite training sessions of the American Heart Association’s three-hour Heartsaver® training course. In this instructor-led class, you will learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use the automated external defibrillator (AED). Administering CPR and the AED dramatically increases the odds of survival during a cardiac or respiratory emergency.
Those who successfully complete the three-hour session will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver® CPR AED Course Completion Card valid for two years.
Registration is open to anyone interested in becoming certified or in recertifying. Every student will have hands-on skills practice with a mannequin and receive feedback from the instructor.
Each session is limited to a maximum of 12 participants, and sessions are expected to fill up, so act quickly to reserve your spot or to be placed on the waiting list:
- Tuesday, May 3, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Kaiser 712

UCOP established the Oakland-based CPR/AED program several years ago. Certified emergency responders and other staff trained in first aid and as floor wardens are a critical component of UCOP’s overall emergency plans. These classes are offered through the Office of Risk Services.
