OPPC event: Volunteer in an Oakland school garden
Can you spare an afternoon to help nurture an Oakland school garden?
The Office of the President Professional Community (OPPC) affinity group will be helping a four-site school complex in Oakland to maintain and grow their school garden. This volunteer event will be held:
DATE: Friday, June 10
TIME: 12 to 4 p.m.
LOCATION: Near Laney College and Lake Merritt on E. 10th St.
The complex includes La Escuelita K-8 Elementary School, MetWest High School and the United Nation Child Development Center. The location is a short walk from Lake Merritt BART station and other transit. Teachers will be on hand to assist the volunteers.
In 2015, President Napolitano approved four hours a month for UCOP employees to volunteer, provided that they receive prior approval from their supervisor.
The school garden project supports OPPC’s and UC’s core values — integrity, excellence, accountability and respect — and fulfills the aims of the UC Oakland Partnership by helping the local community that we work in.
