UCOP donates $4,000 and 295 pounds of food to Alameda County Food Bank
UCOP embraced the giving season during the annual food drive sponsored by UC Agriculture and Natural Resources and OP Staff Assembly. In total, UCOP staff donated $4,004 and 295 pounds of food, even more than in previous years.
With every dollar donated buying $6 worth of food, the Alameda County Food Bank will be able to use these proceeds to purchase over $24,000 worth of fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthy food items for the 49,000 local families it serves each week.
Winner of the $100 farmers market basket for most donations was the 20th St. building, which collected $790. Runners-up were the 6th floor of Franklin, which raised $538, and the 5th, 7th and 12th floors of Franklin, each of which donated $475.
Special thanks to those who helped organize the food drive and collect donated items:
Suzanna Martinez, nutrition policy analyst in Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR)
Bobby Cook, VDI engineer in ITS
Osman Shokoor, student at UC Berkeley
