Terms and conditions for Raffle in connection with launch of new UC Store (July 2018)
These are the terms and conditions that apply to the University of California Office of the President’s (“UCOP”) raffle on July 10-16, 2018 in connection with the launch of the new UC Store (“Raffle”).
The sponsor of this Raffle is the University of California, Office of the President, 1111 Franklin St, Oakland, CA 94607 (“University of California” or “UC”).
By entering the Raffle, these terms and conditions apply to your entry. UCnet’s Terms of Use forms part of these terms and conditions. Participation in this Raffle constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions may change without notice. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California.
To participate in the Raffle, you must provide your entry between Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 10 a.m. Pacific Time to Monday, July 16, 2018, 5 p.m. Pacific Time (“Raffle Period”).
Eligibility to participate
The Raffle is intended for current, active UCOP staff only. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
Eligibility for prizes
The following rules apply to eligibility for prizes offered through the Raffle.
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. To be eligible to win a prize during the Raffle Period, you will need to:
- Submit your name and your valid ucop.edu email address via the online submission form on the UC Link website (http://link.ucop.edu/) during the Raffle Period; and
- Be a current UCOP employee.
Ineligible participants: UCOP retirees as well as current UC employees who were closely involved in the creation of the Raffle or the new UC Store are not eligible for prizes.
Other terms
Each current UCOP employee may only enter once. Incomplete or invalid entries will not be accepted. The University of California assumes no responsibility for errors that may occur in the transmission of the entrant’s entry.
Winners will be randomly selected by a representative of the Marketing Communications department who is a current UCOP employee. Winners will be notified by 5 p.m. July 20, 2018. This Raffle is purely chance. The selection of winners is final.
The University of California reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who has engaged in: unlawful or improper conduct, conduct designed to jeopardize the fair conduct of the Raffle, conduct generally damaging to the reputation of the University of California, or any breach of these terms and conditions (as determined in the University of California’s sole discretion). The University of California is not responsible for any fraud or other misconduct on the part of the entrants. Should an entrant engage in fraud, infringement, or other misconduct of any nature, including but not limited to a violation of the official rules, such entrant shall be subject to immediate disqualification. The University of California reserves the right to terminate, modify or amend the contest at any time if the fairness, integrity, and or proper administration of the contest is jeopardized.
Total prize value is approximately USD $67 for all prizes combined. These prize values are accurate at the start of the Raffle. Five prizes total will be given and each randomly selected winner will be eligible to receive one of the five prizes. The prizes awarded to the winners will be one of the following:

Each entrant is responsible for monitoring his or her UCOP email account for notification or other communications related to this contest. No later than July 20, 2018, we’ll notify the winners by emailing the UCOP address provided in the submission. The winner must respond and claim his/her prize by emailing us at link@ucop.edu within 72 hours of us contacting the winner by email, or we will pick another winner. We’ll ask for any details required for delivering the prize with the winner by email.
The University of California will engage in reasonable efforts to contact the winners. If we can’t locate the winner via email communications, or if a prize winner hasn’t contacted us within 72 hours of our contact, another entry may be selected for the prize.
If you win, we may ask you to provide proof of identity, UC affiliation, residency and age. If you can’t provide or refuse to provide suitable proof, then you may be disqualified, and we may choose another winner.
The University of California may use any personal information contained in your entry or submitted to us in connection with this Raffle and awarding the prize. By participating in this Raffle, you authorize the University of California to use your name, likeness, and biographical information in connection with this Raffle and awarding the prize.
After the prizes are awarded to all winners, we may identify all winners of this Raffle in a story about the new online store and this Raffle.
You can’t exchange any of the prizes for cash. We will use reasonable efforts to award the prizes as described above, but if we are unable to do that, we may substitute another prize of comparable value.
You’ll be responsible for all taxes, insurance and any other expenses, fees and costs connected with that prize that are not included in the prize description.
You’re also responsible for your use of the prize, including complying with any applicable terms and conditions of use, including any applicable conditions along with complying with all relevant laws, rules and regulations.
The University of California is not responsible for use of the prize that results in:
- loss that was not reasonably foreseeable;
- loss that was not caused by our negligence;
- business losses suffered by non-consumers;
- losses caused by factors which could reasonably be considered to be outside our control; and
- any loss caused, or contributed to, by your breach of conditions of entry or your negligence.
By participating in this Raffle, you agree to release, to forever discharge, and to hold harmless the University of California and its officers, agents and employees from any and all claims and demands arising from your entry or participation in this Raffle – including but not limited to claims for violation of rights of publicity, invasion of privacy, libel, defamation, copyright infringement or trademark infringement.
