Feb. 21: Donate blood and help save lives
The American Red Cross recently reissued its emergency call for blood donations after severe winter weather and the government shutdown reduced lifesaving donations. In January, more than 4,600 Red Cross blood and platelet donations went uncollected as blood drives were forced to cancel.
Your donation can save three lives, and it’s easy! Schedule an appointment to donate blood at the American Red Cross drive right around the corner from the Franklin Building. It only takes about an hour and you’ll be rewarded with snacks, juice and that great feeling that only comes from helping others.
- Date: Thursday, Feb. 21
- Time: 8:15 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Location: The Bloodmobile will be parked in front of the East Bay Municipal Utility District building on 11th Street between Franklin and Webster streets
To make an appointment to donate or if you have questions, contact Jan Kehoe at 7-9526 or Jan.Kehoe@ucop.edu. Make your appointment as soon as possible, so Jan can have her signature homemade treats ready and waiting for you!
Visit the American Red Cross website to learn more about the process. To make donating even easier, start the process online the day of your donation. If you don’t work in Oakland, you can find a blood drive near you.
